What is your book all about?

The novel, ‘Kenyan Timing Ate My Boob’ is the 2nd novel which follows the first book, Mombasa Raha, My Foot. The entire novel series is currently 8 novels, and I’ve done all this using my phone primarily.

The 1st novel bears the same title as the book series because every other novel is showing what these characters have been doing in the Kenyan Coast and the Kenyan country as well. All events in the other novels are leading to what took place in the 1st book, so that’s why the 1st book has the same title as the entire book series.

What inspired you to write the book?

My own way of raising awareness against human trafficking and sex tourism in Kenya, because this is primarily an event that lots of Kenyan youth get into blindly, under an urban proverb, “Nothing gets a family out of poverty faster than a daughter with a white boyfriend”, so many Kenyan youth in the coast get driven into sex tourism and human trafficking to get families out of poverty; something that destroys even children who aren’t even adolescents yet.
Also, before I joined high school, English teachers used to have confusion in marking and grading my compositions, so in front of my parent, I would be asked what TV shows I watched at home. From Al-Jazeera documentaries to shows like Prison Break, ALIAS, 24,Scandal(both the South African and Shonda Rhimes’ show) and movies that interested me as well, especially movies that had an African location like Kenya.

What is the target audience for the book?

Anyone above the age of 16, worldwide.

What do you hope readers could get from your book?

I hope readers will get to understand the dangers and repercussions that follow when getting into that world, especially considering the repercussions include things like domestic violence, child abuse/trauma, sexual abuse/rape, and families torn apart by greed and addiction to substances of all kind.

What are your future plans/goals for your book?

I hope to adapt the book, alongside the other novels, into a feature film/TV series, once it has circulated worldwide.

My name is Haroun Risa. I’m an actor, author, scriptwriter and future news anchor from Nairobi, Kenya. I have also featured in both local and international film and TV series like the second season of Netflix’s SENSE8, which was shot in Nairobi, Kenya. Apart from that, I also am a huge fan of world/African music, old-skool hip hop amid other genres which may interest me. Hobbies include watching movies, swimming, travelling, meditation and reading novels too.
